Tour de l’Ain 2020 will take place from August 7 to 9

7 May 2020

The planet is currently going through an unprecedented health crisis. While everyone’s health is the top priority, the social and economic life of the country will gradually recover. Sport, a source of well-being and social bonds, must obviously play its part in this renaissance. It is for this reason that the Tour de l’Ain Organising Committee and its partners are pleased to confirm that the 32nd edition of the event will take place this summer.

A crossing of the Ain department in 3 stages

The UCI’s international calendar has been restructured. In order to fit perfectly within it, the next edition of the Tour de l’Ain – Solimut Mutuelle de France will be slightly shifted to start on Friday 7 August and finish on Sunday 9 August. With the Tour de France due to start on August 29th, the Tour de l’Ain will effectively be a preparation event for the Grande Boucle.

A final at the Grand Colombier as a prelude to the Tour de France

For this reason, the course has been redesigned. The route of the 3rd and last stage of the Tour de l’Ain (Saint-Vulbas – Grand Colombier) is identical to that of the 15th stage of the Tour de France (Lyon – Grand Colombier). The last 110 km of the race, the most difficult, take exactly the same roads as the Tour. This will be an opportunity for the riders to discover, in race conditions, one of the major stages of the Tour.

An adapted device for the reception of the public

The event will keep its festive and open character, in particular the animations and the publicity caravan, but strict measures of accompaniment and reception of the public will be set up by the organization, in coordination with public authorities and in accordance with the directives applicable in August.
